New website

Welcome to my new blog location! The old blog host site had some technical difficulties and therefore was down for several days at a time. Because I care about you all and want you all to be able to read about me and what's going on in my life whenever is most convenient for you, I've switched to this site.

In my life right now, my internship at Frito-Lay is slowly coming to a close. The internship has definitely been very helpful both in helping me gain insight into myself as well as the company and the business world. I've found that I'm much more work-oriented than I really realized before, basically I hate sitting around doing nothing. I love the Frito-Lay company, they're very people-oriented and team-oriented so people are generally very friendly, helpful, and not overly competitive / cut-throat. I also realized a lot about business in general including it's better to be transparent with your boss and with others so nothing surprises anyone and you can get feedback about how you're doing as you go along; if you don't have something to do, try helping those around you so then they're less stressed and have less on their plate...and it makes you look good; taking feedback well or turning negative feedback into constructive feedback really impresses people but also helps you develop more as a person; meetings never really start on-time, so my bad habit of typically getting places 2 mins late actually won't hurt me as much as I thought; people work a lot more as a team than I realized, and try to work well as a team.

Brief schedule of the next month:

Aug. 1st - last day of work
Aug. 2nd - move stuff back to Rolla, then go on to O'Fallon, IL to hang out with Thor and possibly Becca
Aug. 4th - take the GMAT (Graduate Management Assessment Test, the test to get into an MBA program) in St. Louis
Aug. 4th or 5th - leave O'Fallon and go to Miamisburg, OH (between Dayton and Cincinnati)
Aug. 5th - Aug. 11th - hang out w/ Garrett
Aug. 11th - Aug 15th - hang out in Lexington with parents, friends, opthamologist, etc
Aug. 15 - ? - Go on vacation (where?) with Garrett....still working on plans here...
Aug. 25th - Fall semester begins at Missouri S&T
